1. Research activity

My scientific interest is to develop mechanical and numerical models of Earth strain that can be constrained by geological, geophysical and geodetic strain observations and by rheological data. My research topics are fault mechanics, hydrogeology and the development of geodetic tools and observation systems:

- Geological fault slip rate of large faults and their variations (more)

- Stress and strain modelling during earthquake cycle (more)

- Geodetic measurements in active tectonics and meteorology (more)

- Geodesy for water transfer in karstic aquifers (more)

- Instrumental development of strain meters and tiltmeters (more)

Students (Master 2 or PhD Thesis) interested by these topics and with some background in physics, mechanics or mathematics are welcome to contact me.

I am using or developing the following methods for my research with the help of colleagues and PhD students:

-         Finite Element  Modelling : development of the software ADELI (coll. R. Hassani)

-         Inverse problem and optimization (coll. B. Mohammadi, M. Peyret, E. Stéphan)

-         GPS measurements for tectonics and meteorology (coll. P. Vernant, E. Doerflinger, K. Boniface, F. Masson)

-         Absolute and relative gravimetry (coll. R. Bayer, C. Champollion and N. Le Moigne, T. Jacob)

-         Development and use of field instruments (coll. F. Boudin, P. Collard, P. Vernant, HC Seat, M. Cattoen, P. Bernard, G. Plantier)

2. Research administration and management

My activities for science management are for 2008-2009 (in French):

3. Teaching

I teach (taught) the following courses at the Montpellier University:
