I am mainly interested in:

  1. The geodetic strain associated to actively deforming orogens. GPS geodesy is the most convenient technique to quantify the strain associated to intracontinental deformation. I was involved in the setup and the measurement of several GPS networks in the Caucasus, the Alps and Pyrenees and in Iran.
  2. The geodetic signal associated to earthquakes and landslides. INSAR  and GPS techniques allows a precise determination of the deformation associated to these phenomema.
  3. The detection of water vapour in the troposphere using GPS geodesy. Because pressure, temperature and water vapour modifies the air refraction, the inversion of GPS signal allows to measure both hydrostatic and wet tropospheric delays. The wet delay has a special interest because it is a unique source of information about the integrated water content of the atmosphere. Therefore, assimilation of GPS delays in numerical weather prediction model is a promising approach to improve precipitation forecasting.
